Canada Day 4

Day 4 in Canada we just decided to cruise around the town. They have so many old buildings that are really pretty. We ate at a cute little corner cafe. We sat by one of those windows and the windows are open. Luckily the homeless guy was not hanging out while we were eating. Keegan got a yummy lava ice cream at one of the resturaunts that we ate at. He was really excited with all the smoke coming out. That is pretty much all we did that day is walk and walk and walk. We had fun doing it though.

Canada Day 5

Day 5 in Canada was "Canada Day". Which is like the 4th of July in the United States. We started off by going to a castle just up the hill from town. It was gorgeous. Way back when after the owner died no one wanted to buy the castle so they had a drawing and the person who's name they drew won the castle. Then that idiot lost it to the bank for a $300,000 loan he took out on it. Now that is something I would like to get in on. But word to the wise, when you win a castle just live in it, don't lose it to the bank. It was three levels of beauty. After the castle we went back down to the warf to wait for fire works. As the evening drew near the streets started filling up with thousands of Canadians who had painted maple leafs on their faces and made dresses out of flags. We are talking thousands of people showed up. The legal drinking age in Canada is 19 so there were plenty of rowdy drunk kids roaming the streets. As we were waiting for night to fall it started getting cold and Matt and I did not come prepared for that so we were sitting on the Hotel lawn freezing, that is why we have sad faces. Once we watched the fireworks we went back to the cabin for a good night sleep and then we had to get up early in the morning to hit the ferry back to the "Good Ole' United States." So that pretty much sums up our vacation to Canada in a nut shell. We had a lot of fun and hope to go back some day. And we are happy to say that we made it through customs with out any trouble.

Remembering this Moment

Have you ever had one of those moments when you just wish that you could remember it forever? I know you have and I have them often. Keegan is now 16 and 1/2 months old and I put him down for his nap this afternoon and after 30 minutes of him playing around in his crib I decided to go up and rock with him. I just love rocking him to sleep. He has a favorite blanket that he likes to fall asleep with and so I picked him up and his favorite blanket and we began to rock back and forth and back and forth. I turned on his lullaby cd and we just rocked and rocked and before long his little eyes grew heavy and he fell asleep in my arms. And although I knew I should lay him down in his crib I just couldn't come to put him down. I just stared at his face and how long his eye lashes are and how round his little cheeks are. He has such kissable lips, his skin is so soft, and he smells so good and that moment was just so peaceful. As we rocked I couldn't help but think of that book, "I'll love you forever" And the mother would sneak into the room and rock her baby back and forth and back and forth and then she would say " I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, as long as I'm living my baby you'll be." I love my little Keegan more than I could ever express and I just wanted to remember this moment. And I am so thankful for this beautiful blessing and the joy that he brings to my life. I never knew I could love so much.

Getting His Toesies Wet

While we were out at Barbara's place on Father's Day we decided to take Keegan down to the pool for a little swim. This was the first time that he has been in a pool and we didn't have his swim suit nor did Matt and I have a suit so we just dipped our toes in the water. Keegan didn't really like it much. He would stand on the stairs for a little bit as long as he could hold onto the pole and he played Boo with a little girl in the pool but it wasn't long before he was tired of being in there and he started to cry. So we got out and headed back home. We didn't bring a change of clothes so he had to wear one of Grandma's Harley Davidson shirts back home. We will have to try again when we remember to bring our suits and can actually carry him into the water.

Wonderful Father's Day

Father's Day was nice. It started out with a big breakfast that I made for Matt. It was a new recipe that was some sort of egg, hashbrown, asparagus and ham casserole. We also had yummy fresh strawberries and orange rolls with a glass of orange juice. This was a nice change from the usual pancake or waffle breakfast. Then Matt got to open up his present which he seemed to like. Then it was a day of hiking. We went to this place called Tryon Creek and it is off of I-5 and Tiwilliger. It was a really pretty forest area with lots of trails to go on and a fun nature center. Matt just got this baby back pack from a barter that he did on craiglist and he has been dying to take it out and try it. So we wondered about the forrest for about 1.5 hours. He had told me that it was just some paved trails so I only wore sandles. Well it ended up being more than that and the sandles just didn't cut it. Keegan just loves to be outdoors and he happily sat in the pack hummed the whole time. It was such a nice weather day as well. We really had fun being outside and spending time together. Later we decided to go to Matt's mom's house in Jantsen Beach so we bought some burgers and brauts and headed over there for a nice BBQ. Was a fun day.
